Hypo Pied/ Orange Dream Yellowbelly Pied
High on my list of favorite ball python pied combinations are hypo pieds, and orange dream yellowbelly pieds. I have combined these two similar, yet distinct projects here because there are some crossovers planned for my group of animals. The warm honey-gold colors of the hypo pieds, and the orange saddles of the ODYB pieds, contrast beautifully with the pied expression.

This pastel Enchi hypo pied captured my attention at the Tinley Park NARBC and started me on this project. I walked the entire show and saw this female at the Spaids Reptiles table. My search was over, I knew this was what I was looking for.

The sister to the first animal, breeding with an Enchi hypo pied. All three animals are from Spaids Reptiles. I chose a male without pastel for this pairing to avoid making super pastels.

Hatch day. I never get tired of hatching snake eggs!

Pastel hypo pied female holdback. What’s not to like about this combo?

Enchi hypo pied female, similar to parents.

Yellowbelly Enchi pied female as a yearling

Egg laying day, eight fertile eggs

Orange dream yellowbelly pied female holdback.

Orange dream Enchi pied male holdback

Orange dream yellowbelly rust pied, het hypo. Future male breeder for both projects. Produced by Spaids Reptiles, rust is a new gene not yet fully understood but one that yields superb results in offspring that inherit it.

Super orange dream het pied male, sired by the OD Enchi pied male shown above. Dam was yellowbelly specter orange dream. Another future breeder for these projects.

YB super enchi pied male, shed verified. This hatchling showed that the YB pied dam was also Enchi.
About These Projects
Both of these pied projects, (Pastel Enchi hypo pied, and orange dream yellowbelly pied) are currently being developed with additional trait combos for color and pattern. I am especially excited to see what the rust gene will do when added. Clown is also a future recessive to bring to the mix, I am raising up a very nice clown pied male obtained from Dan Maxwell at Legacy Breeders. The initial results from the original adults were quite promising, and I anticipate that the next generations will be even better.
